Children's Safeguarding - Level 1

This self-paced introductory session explores how trauma awareness influences the way we think about, discuss, and respond to the safeguarding of children. It’s designed to help you build confidence in recognising signs of harm, understanding barriers to disclosure, and creating safety through language, relationships, and procedure.

You’ll reflect on real-world examples, rewrite common safeguarding language through a trauma-informed lens, and identify practical steps you can take to strike a balance between protection and empowerment. Learning is self-paced, allowing you to complete it at your own pace, pausing whenever you need to reflect or rest.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

• Understand how trauma can shape behaviour and engagement in safeguarding contexts.
• Recognise the difference between harmful and healing safeguarding language.
• Reflect on your own confidence and responsibilities when raising concerns.
• Identify one practical change to strengthen trauma-informed safeguarding in your role.
