    The TICS Difference

Our goal is simple: to make research and evaluation not only describe change, but be part of it.

Whether as lead applicants, co-investigators, or delivery partners, we offer research, evaluation, and collaborative services that are founded in the trauma informed insights and learning of TICS founder Dr Lisa Cherry.

Under our new Director, Jessica Parker, and the wider team, TICS trauma-informed infrastructure brings together a distinctive combination of lived experience, practice knowledge, and academic expertise to design and deliver research and evaluation that is ethical, inclusive, and grounded in care to the research and evaluation sector. By bridging lived experience, academic methods, and professional practice, we generate evidence that is both robust and deeply human.

We create the conditions for people — participants, researchers, and partners — to work safely, collaboratively, and with curiosity.

    How We Work in Practice

Collaborating with universities, funders, and community organisations, we work to generate evidence that drives meaningful, systemic change and can be involved at any stage of your research or evaluation journey. This includes working with partners from the proposal stage, helping to design bids that embed quality, credibility, and ethical integrity that span the full project lifecycle, from concept to completion.

We can also be commissioned post-award, offering trauma-informed facilitation, supervision, and reflective practice packages for projects already underway. Wherever you begin, we help create the conditions for safe, inclusive, and reflective research and evaluation that creates a lasting impact.
When TICS is part of a project, we help to:
    • Design research and evaluation that heals, not harms – embedding safety and ethical reflexivity from the outset.
    • Build inclusion and co-production – ensuring lived-experience voices shape design, delivery, and analysis.
    • Strengthen ethics and safeguarding – integrating supervision, wellbeing, and reflective structures.
    • Enhance fundability – meeting funder expectations around inclusion, safety, and impact.
    • Translate research into practice – turning evidence into learning that informs policy and systemic change.

TICS works flexibly across the research and evaluation process, offering both direct delivery and capacity-building support and can adapt our involvement to fit the shape and needs of each project, which can include offering our services as:
    • Lead or co-applicants – designing and delivering trauma-informed, participatory research and evaluation from bid to dissemination.

    • Embedded researchers or evaluators – collecting, analysing, and interpreting data through a trauma-informed lens.

    • Facilitators of co-production and peer-researcher development – supporting meaningful engagement of lived-experience voices throughout.

    • Critical friends – helping teams reflect on ethics, inclusion, and researcher wellbeing across the research lifecycle.
    • Training and supervision partners – providing ongoing professional development through our Trauma-Informed Researcher & Educator Training Suite.

This approach ensures every project is methodologically rigorous, emotionally safe, and ethically grounded, embedding trauma-informed values not only in outcomes but in how the work itself is done.

    Developing Researcher and Educator Capability
Trauma-informed research and evaluation is not only about what we study, but how we work together in the process. Alongside our research and evaluation delivery offer, TICS supports individuals, teams, and organisations to strengthen their capacity to lead and sustain this work safely.

Our Trauma-Informed Researcher & Educator Training Suite offers a structured learning pathway for individuals involved in research, evaluation, and education who aim to integrate trauma-informed, ethical, and participatory principles into their practice.

    The programme includes:
    • Core Training – foundational sessions exploring trauma-informed and ethical research principles.

    • Applied Workshops – focused modules on reflective supervision, co-production, vicarious trauma, and relational ethics.

    • Facilitated Reflective Spaces – guided sessions to support wellbeing, processing, and learning integration.

    • Practice Resources – tools and frameworks to embed trauma-informed practice in everyday research and teaching.

Our training is designed for researchers, educators, practitioners, and funders who seek to create environments where people feel safe, valued, and connected, ensuring that research and learning spaces remain reflective, inclusive, and sustainable.
