This self-paced session explores how the words we write can shape a person’s story, not just today, but long into the future. Records are more than paperwork; they can protect dignity, build trust, and offer clarity. They can also unintentionally harm when written without awareness. Trauma-informed record keeping invites us to write with care, accuracy, and compassion, as if the person might one day read what we have written.
In this session, you’ll reflect on the purpose of record keeping through a trauma-informed lens, notice how language influences meaning, and practise rewriting statements in ways that protect dignity and context. You’ll explore real examples where tone, bias, or assumptions can creep into records, and consider how curiosity and clarity can transform written communication into something supportive rather than shaming.
Learning is self-paced, you can complete this session in your own time, pausing whenever you need to reflect or rest.
