WHAT IS TRAUMA INFORMED CONSULTANCY SERVICES?

Trauma Informed Consultancy Services Ltd support settings, services and systems in becoming trauma-informed, working towards building connection, safety and belonging. Explicitly, this means creating a setting, service and/or system that is ready to work within the principles of trauma informed practice, and develop the model of ‘realise, recognise, respond and resist’, while actively ensuring the power imbalance is redressed. We work across every sector supporting all those working with children, young people and their families.

Utilising the wisdom of lived experience, academic research and practice knowledge, we will support you to offer safe, supportive and encouraging environments. The explicit focus is threefold; preventing harm, not adding to harm, seeking to mitigate harm when it has already happened.

"Children will become adults, and adults were once children"
We understand that while different sectors specialise in certain areas, we all live our lives across the life course; adults were once children and children become adults which is why we believe it is important to take an holistic approach to becoming trauma informed.

By moving toward trauma informed practices, we collectively state the commitment to doing the work and to investing the time into creating a space that acknowledges inequity and supports better mental health and well-being for everyone involved. You are becoming part of the solution towards creating healthier communities.

With Trauma-Informed Services, we’ll support you and your organisation in a number of areas:

The Thinking Space That Keeps People Safe: Why Supervision Matters in Trauma-Exposed Systems
      Jessica Parker
      No Comments

In many organisations, supervision is spoken about warmly and treated lightly. It is described as supportive, developmental, even “nice to have”, something to prioritise when workloads ease or when everything else feels under control. In reality, supervision is often among the first things to disappear under pressure, quietly replaced by action, urgency and task completion. […]

Behaviour policies sit at the heart of most school systems. They are designed to establish expectations, maintain order and ensure that learning environments remain safe and predictable. In many schools, behaviour frameworks are structured around consistent responses to rule-breaking, often involving a graduated system of warnings, sanctions and rewards. For many pupils, these systems function […]

Writing has long been used to satisfy the call to heal from emotional distress, to understand more of our internal workings and to share what we have learnt in the process of experiencing something we have struggled with or found traumatic. I first learned of this wonderful healing ability in its full entirety as I […]

As described by David Emerson and Elisabeth Hopper in their book “Overcoming Trauma Through Yoga” Human beings are tender creatures - we are born with our hearts open.
