By moving toward trauma-informed practices, we collectively state the commitment to doing the work and to investing the time into creating a space that supports better mental health and well-being for everyone involved. You are becoming part of the solution towards creating healthier communities.

WHAT IS TRAUMA INFORMED CONSULTANCY SERVICES?

Trauma Informed Consultancy Services Ltd support settings, services and systems in becoming trauma-informed, working towards building connection, safety and belonging. Explicitly, this means creating a setting, service and/or system that is ready to work within the principles of trauma informed practice, and develop the model of ‘realise, recognise, respond and resist’, while actively ensuring the power imbalance is redressed. We work across every sector supporting all those working with children, young people and their families.

Utilising the wisdom of lived experience, academic research and practice knowledge, we will support you to offer safe, supportive and encouraging environments. The explicit focus is threefold; preventing harm, not adding to harm, seeking to mitigate harm when it has already happened.

"Children will become adults, and adults were once children"
We understand that while different sectors specialise in certain areas, we all live our lives across the life course; adults were once children and children become adults which is why we believe it is important to take an holistic approach to becoming trauma informed.

By moving toward trauma informed practices, we collectively state the commitment to doing the work and to investing the time into creating a space that acknoledges inequity and supports better mental health and well-being for everyone involved. You are becoming part of the solution towards creating healthier communities.

With Trauma-Informed Services, we’ll support you and your organisation in a number of areas:

Training - Consultancy - Speaking - Research
"Compassion requires courage, wisdom and a sensitivity to the awareness of suffering, while also having the motivation to do something about it"

TRAUMA INFORMED CONSULTANCY SERVICES FROM
Lisa Cherry

Working with children with additional vulnerabilities and their families, whether in an educational setting, within the criminal justice system or through fostering and adoption, you know what a struggle life can be for them. Research has shown time and again that those that suffer Adverse Childhood Experiences will face greater challenges because of the things that happened to them beyond their control.

Lisa’s mission is to provide accessible, scientifically grounded knowledge and information to all those working with and around trauma, resilience and recovery.

Lisa Cherry is an author, researcher and leading international trainer and consultant, specialising in assisting schools, services and systems to create change that supports working with the legacy of trauma.
Lisa has been working in and around Education and Children’s Services for over 30 years and combines academic knowledge and research with professional expertise and personal experience.

Lisa’s MA research looked at the impact on education and employment for care experienced adults who experienced school exclusion as children in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

Currently, Lisa is undertaking her DPhil studies at The University of Oxford in the Rees Centre which is in the Department of Education, conducting research on "How do care experienced adults who were also excluded from school make sense of belonging?."

Lisa is the author of the hugely successful book ‘Conversations that make a difference for Children and Young People’ and ‘The Brightness of Stars’ 3rd Edition out in June 2022.
