Unlock the transformative power of lived experience through a framework that prioritises safety, mutuality, and profound connection. Learn to bridge the gap between shared struggle and sustainable healing without the risk of burnout or re-traumatisation.
This session explores what trauma-informed peer support looks and feels like, support rooted in shared experience, mutuality, compassion, and connection. Peer support can be profoundly healing, especially for people who have experienced trauma, exclusion, or disconnection. But it also requires safety, boundaries, and awareness so that both people feel held, respected, and empowered.
In this session, you’ll explore the principles that underpin trauma-informed peer support, reflect on what makes peer relationships safe and sustainable, and consider how shared experience can be used in supportive ways without becoming overwhelming or re-traumatising.
This is a self-paced session, you can complete it at your own speed, pausing whenever you need to rest or reflect.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
• Understand the principles of trauma-informed peer support.
• Recognise the strengths and vulnerabilities within peer relationships.
• Identify appropriate boundaries and when to seek additional support.
• Consider how shared lived experience can empower, validate, or support others.
• Identify one practical action to strengthen trauma-informed peer support in your role or setting.
