Sophie Tales is a Vice Principal of a mainstream primary school in Leicester city. Sophie has lived, professional and academic knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experience which is shown throughout her work both as an author and as a school senior leader. Sophie has been a leader within specialist and mainstream school settings supporting children from ages 4 to 16. Sophie is passionate in her work to support staff and schools in developing their understanding of behaviour as communication, to see adversity in all its forms and develop strategic relationship-focused school systems to better support disadvantaged families.
Sophie is the author of the book 'Creating Adversity-Aware Schools: Trauma-Informed Tools and Strategies from Educators with Lived Experience' which is grounded in the lived experiences of educators who overcame challenges in early life. It combines their insights with easy to implement tools, worksheets and resources drawing on proven Restorative Practice, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches.
